The biggest trap that honeymoon couples find they are caught up in is boredom. No, I am not suggesting for a moment that you are likely to get bored with each other, but rather I am talking about the honeymoon resort itself.
You will find as you search that most honeymoon venues tend to centre on one thing or sport. For example a ski-resort. Now, you and your new wife or husband may love skiing and that will be wonderful for about a week. Then you tend to find that one day merges into another and that today you find yourself doing pretty much the same as yesterday.
I think we will probably agree that any honeymoon should contain romantic elements of excitement that will not wear off after a week.
When you search the web for romantic honeymoons, try to make sure that there are a whole range of things for you and your partner to enjoy, not just one central and all pervasive theme.
For a really romantic honey moon try to think outside the box a little. You might look at the Caribbean or maybe the Red sea, but check how far your money will go. In a lot of cases, spending a few hours longer on the plane can take you to places where your spending money will buy you a lot more and actually enable you to live in luxury you might not otherwise afford.
Some years ago an economist who was being anything but romantic, thought about the McDonalds hamburger chain and how the ingredients and creation of a hamburger is identical in every McDonalds in the world. He reasoned very successfully that since the end product is identical that you could see whether a currency was over or under valued by the price of a hamburger in that country.
Before actually booking your romantic honeymoon it is worthwhile to Google McDonalds restaurants in any country you might think of and that will give you a very good idea as to how far your money will go.
It may not be romantic but if you check the price of a hamburger delivered to your home in Manila, the capital of the Philippines it works out to be almost exactly 50 Cents US. This too is reflected in local wages and in the Philippines the hourly wage of an unskilled worker is still under $1 US an hour, so you have an idea as to how far your honeymoon budget is likely to stretch.
You might also like to look at the safety of the country you are interested in honeymooning in. It will kill any romantic notions you might have if you need to keep looking over your shoulder. If you want to drink and dance on honeymoon you would do well to think of a country which has a high Christian population. Christian fundamentalists do exist but I can't remember one ever blowing up a hotel or honeymoon resort.
Whatever resort you pick, check that it is safe to leave the resort and that you can safely explore other places and things to do. A romantic honeymoon can lose a lot of it's intended sparkle if you are effectively limited to the resort itself.
